My Experience

1993 – 1999

My first eight years of work were filled with a broad range of activities as a company lawyer. First I worked in the German sales organisation of a large Korean group under an Asian management, and then in a medium-sized fashion enterprise with world-wide subsidiaries. In the framework of its insolvency at a later point in time I accompanied its national and international liquidation together with the CFO and with the insolvency manager until the end of 1999.

2000 – 2002

Then I worked for the pioneer company in litigation finance and built up the Munich office: from the search for suitable office space and staff up to the operative establishment of the business in South Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In this listed start-up enterprise I was part of the leadership team, working on the further development of the core business and on the diversification of the services spectrum at the same time.

2002 – 2012

Over the next ten years I had the opportunity to build up the litigation finance business of the largest European insurer and was the responsible managing director. During that period Allianz ProzessFinanz became the European market leader. It funded national as well as international court cases with client claims worth a peak amount of half a billion euros and with offices in Zurich and London. That is why today I am familiar with the structures of a large group, a medium-sized company and a start-up alike.

2012 – 2021

By accepting the vacant managent board position at Roland ProzessFinanz I got the opportunity to shape another litigation finance enterprise. Following a successful turnaround the enterprise could be sold to a Dutch competitor in 2017, and two years later the business in the DACH countries was merged under my leadership with the Australian publicly listed litigation finance company IMF Betham to form the new “Omni Bridgeway” with worldwide activities. In July 2021 I eventually started my long-planned sabbatical year.

My principles in litigation funding

1

Litigation funding allows everyone to assert their rights against financially stronger opponents without risk and without investing their own money.

2

Litigation funding only supports ethically flawless and justified claims.

3

The client, the client’s lawyer and the litigation funder form one team that jointly asserts the claim as well and as speedily as possible.

4

The litigation funder always decides together with the client, never bypassing him.
